My Story
As far as I can remember I've always enjoyed getting to know people and helping them in any way I can. As a result, I found out the joy of being a volunteer. I volunteered in at least ten organizations and companies that cultivated my understanding of people from various backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. I'm far from being done, as people continue to surprise and influence me every day.
As a result of this natural curiosity, I studied clinical psychology for four years and practiced quantitative and qualitative research methods. This is when I started volunteering with people with disabilities and people with addictions. These two groups had something in common: their lives were heavily impacted by technology and not always in a good way.
I observed how people with disabilities were confused by new technologies and dissatisfied with the older ones but still strived to use them. And most of the people with addictions I worked with never owned a computer or smartphone. While most of them didn't even know how to use technologies, some of them did too well which became a problem and significantly interfered with their lives.
I decided to learn more about technology. I conducted my BSc Dissertation on the way social media influences online harassment and was admitted into New York University. For two years, I studied at Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) and got involved in Ability Lab. Throughout the program, I explored different software and produced projects using UX design, UX research, accessibility, and coding. I passed Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) exam and did my Master's Thesis on web accessibility guidelines.
